the joy of love: [ jewellery ]

joy of love - jewellery

I'm not a huge jewellery fan. I wear my watch, my engagement ring and my wedding band. All the time.

My engagement ring is one of my prized possessions. It was given to me on my 21st birthday, by my love, my husband. It's Edwardian, circa 1910 - just over 100 years old now. I chose it, of course, because that's the kind of girl I am! I don't like surprises, especially if there is a chance I may not appreciate the surprise!

I lost it a few years ago, and it was like I'd lost part of me. The next morning I found it on the floor outside the washrooms in work. I'd been talking and drying my hands at the same time, and somehow it came off and fell onto the floor. It actually took me about 4 hours to realize I'd lost it, I feel so fortunate that I found it again.

  2. That ring is so stunning and unique, I love that. And how neat that it's over 100 years old! Those diamonds absolutely glow! I don't wear much jewellery either, I MIGHT remember to for special occasions or if I'm going out to dinner but as soon as I walk through the door it's coming off. I lost my engagement ring at work once, too, just weeks after getting it. Was washing my hands in the bathroom and took it off to put lotion on. Then I picked up my things and didn't feel that it wasn't on my finger until too late, I went back and it was gone. I worked at General Electric so I posted notices about a missing engagement ring. I was VERY lucky to get it back. You know, we seem to be alot alike!

I don't like surprises either! Does that make me a control freak? Apparently! LOL! That is what my kids tell me!

  12. Your ring is stunning! I love how old it is too. To think that it has represented love and committment for 100 years for possibly many couples before it even came to you!

I also love the ring box. Is it original to the ring?
