holiday: the cabot trail, cape breton

Cape Breton - Cabot Trail

Last evening we drove up to Baddeck in Cape Breton, it was about a 4 hour drive. Lilah napped along the way and when she woke up we'd just arrived at the crossing over into the Cape Breton area. She looked around and said "There's a big pile of dirt and a big pile of water!" That's a perfect child's view of the mountains and ocean!

Shortly after, we arrived at the Silver Dart Lodge, we'd booked a cabin there and I'd shown Lilah pictures of it online. She was so-so-SO excited to finally sleep on the blue sofa bed!

Today we decided to jump in the car and take a drive around The Cabot Trail. It absolutely did not disappoint, I can see why it is one of the world's most scenic destination areas. We ooh'd and ahh'd the whole 300km drive and to be honest I was speechless when it was over - it really made me appreciate God's incredible handiwork.

We also took a little time out of driving and stopped at a beach in Ingonish along the way, Lilah loved the ocean, at least dipping her feet and legs in the water. The waves were so big we had to hold her hand most of the time. We also had a slice of the most amazing homemade blueberry pie along the way, at The Clucking Hen. I have never tasted anything quite like it. What a fabulous day!
