pedaling her trike

I'm pretty sure most just-turned-three-year-olds know how to pedal, goodness they can probably even do stunts and wheelies by this age. But not our timid Lilah. In the past year I tried and tried again to persuade her to pedal, but she just wasn't into it.

So you can imagine my surprise yesterday evening, when she literally jumped on her trike (the one our back neighbour Frank passed on to her last summer) and low and behold she pedaled right past me shouting "I did it! I did it myself!". Pedaling. Herself. Oh she was SO proud of her accomplishment, and I was so proud too. She still hasn't got the knack of steering yet, but that will come I'm sure, just another stage. She biked down the street to the corner shop and I got her a Häagen-Dazs ice-cream to reward her achievement. She's been telling me ever since where all she's going to bike to; the park, the shop, the school - I think her 'lazy' days are maybe over!

These pictures were taken a few minutes before, when she was trying her best to skip. Too funny!

And these pictures were taken earlier in the evening, when we went for a walk down the street.

  2. That is actually pretty good for riding a bike, the trouble is always those brakes! Now you won't be able to keep up!

    Great photos of the flowers!
