one good thread

My girl loves to whirl and twirl and make herself incredibly dizzy. I think there is something built into every child that makes them want to do exactly that! When Lilah puts a new skirt or dress on, she will always twirl in front of her bedroom mirror to see what sort of a full effect it has. Well the first morning she put this skirt on, I could tell she was just thrilled when she saw how wide it was and how far it flared out.

Anyway, whirling and twirling aside, I was genty reminded recently that ya'll need another shopping fix... so here it is!

I'm not sure how I stumbled upon One Good Thread children's boutique, but I'm sure glad I did! They sell several lines of children's designer clothing, but two in particular that I positively adore... AND they ship to Canada! I know, sometimes I find a beautiful clothing store, and then it turns out they won't ship to Canada or the shipping costs are just more than I care to pay.

So my two favourite designers are 'Persnickety Clothing Company' and 'Swanky Baby Vintage'. The outfit Lilah is wearing in these pictures, is from the Summer 2012 Persnickety line. Oh, and they have a sale on right now - who doesn't love a great sale!

mother's day shopping

There are some things I really like, like purses and prints and cards... not jewellery much, but I am very much in love with this necklace, there is something old and beautiful about it. And that print, oh so lovely. And chevron, well you only need to see my last post to know I love chevron!

I guess I need to have a chat with Lilah, who in turn needs to have a chat with Baba! She can basically talk him into anything, so I think my chances are looking pretty good! Although to be honest, I'm not sure if he knows much about Etsy! Heh!

I know, if I want my husband to buy me anything in the grid above, I really wouldn't feature this print...
But I know, like me, you'll probably see the humour in it! You can find it here.

shopping saturday : spring fever

We've been getting into the way of Spring around here, this past week. However, it's pretty short lived, because even the temperatures today are enough to make your bare toes stop short at the front door! Indeed, the flip flops may have to rest in the closet for another week or two!

But it's inevitable, after that lovely weather we experienced, it's proof that Spring is just around the corner. I enjoy shopping at any time of the year, however, after a dull winter, it seems I'm doubly attracted to bright spring clothes.

Here's a few of my recent finds and buys!

Spring finds...

1: personalized embroidered name frames - wouldn't you just love a wall full of these? - oktak
2: funky print bubble stripe dress - the colours, the print, the ric rac, the pockets, I adore! - mini boden

I might be making a very obvious statement here, but I adore hearts!

When I go to Etsy and search the word 'Valentine', let's just say, oh dear! I could spend a week browsing through pink, red and hearts. I simply can't help myself, especially when it comes to hearts for little girls.

So without furthur ado, here's a few items that have stolen *my* heart!

shopping saturday : character play dresses

With Halloween just around the corner, I've been doing a bit of "window shopping" on Etsy.

Lilah has had her costume for about two months now and she enjoys parading around the house in it. It's a very traditional halloween costume - she fell in love as we were walking through The Children's Place one day and practically begged me to buy it for her. I, of course, would rather have waited until the sale, but I must have been feeling guilty over something on that particular day and ended up buying it for her! Can you tell she has me wrapped around her little finger? Anyway, we're all set in that department.

But that didn't stop me looking for some fun ideas on Etsy... and that's when I found Wild Things (funky little dresses) and instantly fell in love with the character dresses. Tell me, are these cute or are these cute? I've definitely added this shop to my favourites for next year! Personally, I love the mouse dress, but I know it wouldn't take much convincing for Lilah to fall in love with the fox dress - she has always been mesmerized with wolves and foxes.

And of course these dresses could be worn all year long, not just for one night!

shopping saturday : the colours of fall

I don't know what it is about Fall shopping, but I really enjoy it!

In fact, I love anything to do with Fall, whether it be the meals, or the clothing, or the colours, or the warm drinks, or the pumpkins, or the crisp air... everything, I just love everything about Fall.

And well, you know one of my great loves is Etsy! Browsing and shopping on Etsy is definitely one of my favourite things to do! So let me introduce you to a few of the things I've found recently that I adore.

Ellie Beans on Etsy
This is one of my favourite finds. Isn't it just faboulous? I know, I'm just dying about it!

shopping saturday : mani-mina on etsy

I'm going to start blogging about some of my favourite places to shop. More especially, my favourite Etsy shops. Maybe I'll even try to make it my Saturday routine! Because I simply love children's handmade clothes.

Mani-Mina - Brooklyn, New York - "Casual Elegance for Extraordinary Kids!"

The lady that runs this shop is fabulous. It's one of my all time favourite shops. Her clothes are simple and chic, the prices are affordable, they're very wearable and the sewing is excellent! And if you want to make it yourself, she also sells the patterns! You do need to check in with her often though, because she's constantly adding new designs to her little shop. Also, she's had over 10,000 sales, so that tells you that she's a busy bee and her clients just keep coming back for more!

I've bought Lilah three dresses and a shirt from this shop. And as a side note, these dresses are the kind that grow with your child, they can later be worn as shirts over leggings or jeans. And just look at how tiny my little girl used to be. So sweet!

seriously cute handmade clothes

Is it just me or how seriously cute can kiddies clothes get?
I have a terrible weakness for tiny clothes, all ruffly, yet simple and darling...
...just like the ones below.
