happiest mama in the world

On this special day - I couldn't be happier.

Happy Mother's Day to all the women in my life that have guided me down this path, that have mothered me and taught me by example - I love you. And to my daughter - you are one of the greatest gifts God gave me. Today we talked about how you have two Mamas... we talked about how you might resemble your birth Mama. We pray for her every single night, we pray that God will keep her safe, we pray that she'll know you are loved, so very much.

There was some "Top Secret" stuff going on at school this week! You would come home and tell me a little bit about it, and then say "Shhh, don't tell anyone!" - I know it's terribly hard for you to keep a secret my sweet girl, and to be honest, we've taught you the motto: "No secrets in our family!" - we talk about everything together... so I can tell it's hard for you to bottle this "Top Secret" stuff up inside. You did wonderful, you brought that little package home from school on Friday and hid it inside your pillow case cover. It was the perfect hiding spot! This morning you came running into our bedroom waving it in the air, wishing me a Happy Mother's Day! You showed me how to open the little ribbon, in fact, you opened it for me, and then you told me that I could tear the tissue paper if I wanted, it was okay... you were just so eager for me to open it. I was absolutely thrilled with my first Mother's Day artwork - I love that your teacher lets you express yourself in your own way, I'm glad it wasn't something that was dictated to you... I mean really, I wonder if any other child in your class wrote: "I love you in a tree, Mama!" It was perfect, it was so you, and if I'm perfectly honest, Baba and I had a secret little giggle at you loving me in a tree!! You are such a special girl Lilah... I love you beyond words. I love you to the moon and back. You are beyond precious my child, you have brought so much love and happiness to my life - thank you for being my daughter.

Next year, all being well, I'll have two girlies on my knee - two little hearts to love. I'm blessed beyond words.

mama's day

Mama's Day - 2011

I waited a long time to be a Mama. Looking back over our journey to become a family, I'm glad the Lord made us wait as long as we did. If we hadn't looked to the Lord and waited, we wouldn't have our little Lilah.

And I believe all that waiting has made me appreciate every single tiny little detail of being a mama.

Every single day is my day, another day with my beautiful girl. I couldn't be happier.

On a day like today, I could never forget the mother that carried my daughter for nine months and gave birth to her. And God, who entrusted her to us, to love and cherish.

There are 3 special Mothers I thank God for on a daily basis:

My Mother
My husband's Mother
My daughter's Birth Mother

These wonderful women gave life to my loves and me.
Thank you so so much.

- to a beautiful, sweet, adorable, charming, precious little girl I call my daughter. Lilah Grace.

She just calls me Mama.

happy happy mother's day

It's normally a first for Lilah, but this time it's a first for me. My first Mother's Day, and everything I've dreamed of for the last few years is finally in my arms. There is nothing like it, nothing like the feeling of being a Mother, it's so much joy and love that you feel your heart could burst. It's truly amazing. One thing I want to mention, something I have learned in the past four months of being a mother, and that's how much I appreciate my Mum. So this post is not just for me; it's for my Mum, Colin's Mum and Lilah's birth Mum. Thank you all so much for the gift you gave us, the gift of life and the gift of love. To mark the occasion, Colin took these pictures of us, this afternoon, after Church.

mothering sunday (x2)

I am only a mother to a photograph of my daughter this year, all being well next year will be the real deal and I'll have earned this day! Psalm 127:3 - Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward. I really enjoyed the following poem and thought I would share it.

-----------------------------------------------

"THE LOVE OF TWO WOMEN"

Once there were two women
living half a world apart.
God joined these women together
with a common thread between their hearts.

In one, He created a life,
a beautiful baby girl.
In the other, He planted an idea,
weighing it heavily on her soul.

The first, heartbroken, faith strong,
knew the baby wasn't hers to raise.
She watched as the baby was taken,
and knelt down to God in praise.

The second, frightened, faith strong,
asked God to hold her hand
as she traveled toward a dream
to an unfamiliar, distant land.

The baby, she was beautiful,
an angelic Asian face.
She stared, wide-eyed and curious,
as into her mother's arms she was placed.

And there were tears full of sadness
as one mother's heart wept.
And there were tears full of gladness
as one mother's heart leapt.

Two very different women
with a common circumstance.
Each asking for God's guidance
instead of leaving life to chance.

Two very different women
who love the same little girl,
praying to God daily
to guide her through this world.

And though they'll never meet,
they are forever joined heart to heart
by the same awesome God,
lands apart.
