While we were in China we made our very first Hello Kitty purchase, an alarm clock. No idea why, because Lilah was only 18 months old and in all seriousness, as brand new first time parents in a different time zone, we definitely didn't need an alarm clock! Lilah was in fact our very own alarm clock! However we bought it, but there wasn't much interest shown in it. In fact, here is a picture of her with it while we were in China. I think her look says it all!
Fast forward several months...
My sweet cousin Kerry (from Ireland) sent Lilah a pair of gorgeous pink Hello Kitty pajamas this past summer and well, Lilah loved loved loved them. We would be heading up the stairs to get ready for bed in the evening and she would excitedly proclaim "Heywow Titty dammies". She even used to ask if she could wear them during her midday naps. She EVEN used to ask if she could wear them as daytime clothes! Yes, she definitely loved them and she still does, but unfortunately it's wayyy too cold to wear them now.
Which explains why I found a dress in Montréal that I couldn't put down, I just knew she would love love love it. I wasn't disappointed. Our love for Hello Kitty is still alive in this house! It is also alive this season in the H&M kids store. Really really 'over-the-top' alive!

How sweet! As I was reading your post I was going to comment how Zara sometimes carries Hello Kitty, but yah! you found her at H&M! lol! My Riley went through a Dora PJ stage! I had to buy an extra set so one could be washed!

Way too cute.
ReplyDeleteWatch out. Now everyone is going to be buying her Hello Kitty stuff. :)
So cute. I laughed when you wrote how she would proclaim "Heywow Titty dammies" as you got her ready for bed. The way kids talk just cracks me up! Hello Kitty is quite the fad again...even amongst teenagers and adults these days! So, does she like her alarm clock NOW??!! ;)
ReplyDeleteTraci!
ReplyDeleteI hope not! I should have put a disclaimer in my post! I was never one to buy things with characters on them, and I'm still not crazy about them. But once in a while I give in, and when you have a child, it is so easy for them to twist your arm into doing things you wouldn't normally. Even a 2 year old! They have so much power over us - even though we pretend they don't! :) Just you wait and see! Very very soon!
Tanya,
No, still couldn't care less for the alarm clock!

Adorable! My little one loves her Hello Kitty humidifier. :)
ReplyDeleteYou have a cousin named Kerry?! How neat! Does she know she has a little Chinese namesake? I love that sweet picture of Lilah at 18 months. Something about her sometimes reminds me of my Kerry. I've always thought Hello Kitty "stuff" was adorable enough to buy even though I've always been anti-character merchandise like you, especially with shoes and clothing.
ReplyDeleteGin =)
I love what she does with her eyes when she's posing. What a treasure she is. I have been off work due to illness (all good now) and have spent a lot of time on the computer. I serendipity ran across your site some time ago and now watch for updates every day (or several times a day).
ReplyDeleteMISS KITTY is what Lily calls her and she has a huge love of Hello Kitty (Miss Kitty). She thinks Miss Kitty might be sassy like her. OH MY....
ReplyDeleteLilah looks too cute in her Miss Kitty clothes!
