Yesterday Lilah and I made some St Paddy's Day cupcakes.
Colin and I are originally from the North of Ireland, we're not Irish, but we're pretty close, a few miles north of the border close.
Either way, we'll celebrate this holiday, even if we're a few days early and even if it's just for the cupcakes! Because we're ALL about the cupcakes in this house! And it's been far too long since we made cupcakes together, which I think is the real reason we broke down and made them a few days early. That and we needed a project!
Here's our wee leprechaun, with frosting on her lips, proving she's indulged herself already! When she said "Not tell Baba" to me, (regarding eating a cupcake), I thought to myself 'good luck girly - like he won't notice the bright green frosting on your lips'! Heh!
Warm enough to take the stuffed animals for a walk in the pram, sans coat!
Lilah woke up this morning and announced "It's luvey day", to which Colin and I snorted and smiled. I'm not sure if she heard the rain battering against her bedroom window!
She's caught on though, because almost every day for the past few weeks we've been saying exactly that...it's a lovely day. And truly the weather has been superb, considering the norm for this time of year. And today was no exception, we really did need that rain to wash away the winter salt and dirt.
Lilah was dying to get out and jump in a few puddles, with her umbrella of course. So after her nap we walked up to Starbucks together. While we were sitting there (by the window), we were chatting about how the people walking by (outside) were getting wet, so I explained to her how a roof keeps us dry. I said there are roofs on houses and roofs on cars to keep us dry. She quickly pointed to her umbrella and said "That's Lilah's wee roof!". Only of course it sounded more like "Dat's Yiya's yee roof!". {*grin*}
We hear that little statement quite a bit in our house. It all depends who she's loving on.
If she's with Colin she says "Baba's dirl, don't tell Mama". And if she's with me, she says "Mama's dirl, don't tell Baba"! Right after she's makes that statement, meanwhile watching for the other (left out parent) to react, she'll look at who she's with and say "Oh nooo, Mama's/Baba's donna say WHAT?". And then she laughs and squeals.
I snapped these pictures at the breakfast table this morning. They show the bond these two share. Baba is her hero. They are the loves of my life.
Yesterday was Lilah's final day of Mini-Moons at Starr Gymnastics.
It was also 'parents day'. A day for family members to watch their little ones do their program. Baba joined us today and Lilah was THRILLED, absolutely ecstatic in fact, in a show-offy kinda way! Which resulted in her having a major case of wobbles on the balance beam. Haha!
Lilah absolutely LOVES gymnastics. She asks me almost every single day of the week if it's gymnastics day. That's how much she loves it. And dear help me if I put her 'gymnastics clothes' on any day other than gymnastics day. I get asked all day long if we're going to gymnastics!
Goodbye 'Mini-Moons'. Goodbye Flyin' Phil. We'll miss you and your cute silly songs!
Now Lilah will join the 'Komet Kids' group and I get to sit, watch and enjoy from the sidelines. Which is a little sad, because I actually enjoyed the hands-on part; running around after her, coaching her through her routine, it was great exercise.
Like Coach Phil always says "If you do it, they'll do it". How true.

I can hardly believe we're wearing our spring jackets, in March, in Ottawa. It took Lilah a bit of convincing to wear hers.
She decided to wear her gloves, as a precautionary measure! Smart girl.
She's a bit of a wimp in the cold weather. But that's okay. So am I.
While I was curling her hair this morning, she asked...
"Am I doing (going) to a par-teee?"
"Lilah dets (gets) big dirl (girl) she's doing (going) to dive (drive) tar (car) and do (go) BROOM-BROOM and do some tazy diving (crazy driving) and Baba sit in my tar (car) seat. HA-HA!"
The visual is seriously killing me!
We went out tonight for a yummy seafood supper.
We don't have any relatives here in Canada and because of that I feel blessed that everyone in our Church makes us feel like family. Because at the end of the day, that's what we are, one big family.
Lilah adores this wonderful couple from our Church. They spoil her and she knows it! Thanks for hanging with us tonight, Uncle Mark & Auntie Carol!
It's absolutely beautiful listening to Lilah pray.
Most nights her prayers are the regular routine: grandparents, aunts & uncles, cousins, children in the orphanage, birth parents, etc. But then there's the odd night that she changes it up and she makes us smile or stifle a giggle, because she's just so cute and funny.
Like the night she prayed for Mama's jammies and Baba's jammies and Lilah's jammies.
And the night she prayed for baby Zachy's book.
And the night she prayed for the mannequins.
But tonight she topped them all, tonight she prayed for Costco & Home Depot!
I adore my girl!
It's another fabulous day, the sun is shining for all it's worth and it's 6°C.
On a day like today, a certain two year old finds it completely valid to wear her sunglasses during breakfast! And who can blame her!
Well, it's not really Lilah's breakfast time, it's mine. I don't eat breakfast until later in the morning. Lilah usually joins me and has her second breakfast of the day. This morning she requested a "tup-a-tea" in her playset teacup.
She has used the word sun-nasies since last summer. And not just sunglasses get called that, even regular eyeglasses get called the same thing. Sun-nasies! I love hearing her say it.
Ahhh March has arrived...
♥ I love that we are one month closer to summer.
♥ I love wearing shoes (rather than boots).
♥ I love that Lilah and I didn't have to wear gloves when we walked to Tim Horton's today.
♥ I love to see the snow melting.
♥ I love tulips and daffodils and crocuses.
I don't remember a more mild first day of March since we've lived in Canada (10 years now), but I'm absolutely loving it!
