“Mama, you have to respect Baba nicely!”
lilah: “You’re the big Mama and I’m the wee Mama”
me: “How come you’re the wee Mama?”
lilah: “Because I help out a little bit too!”
“Mama, if you eat poisionous berries, you would be straight dead!”
Driving to Church one Sunday evening she said to me: “I love you as much as I could ever love you.”
After school one day she said: “You get what you get and you don’t get upset!”
“When I get to be a big adult, I’m going to get married, get a different house and two babies.”
lilah: "Mama? Does hair come from a monkey?"
me: "No, hair is grown when you're in your Mommies belly and you are a human, so it is human hair. The first hair was made by God, for Adam & Eve."
lilah: "Oh, the girl in my class must be telling jokes"
"Tuckered out means sweating in a different word!"
"Baba's mostly as that stage - he's taller than everything. But he's growing down now because he's getting an old man. Isn't that for real life?"
"I know everything in the world now, because I'm in Senior Kindergarten!"

Lilah told me today, that she LOVES when Phebe sits on her knee.
Phebe definitely tolerates it, well, you know... for a little while anyway!
And since she doesn't have enough English words (yet) to express her disgust concern... at being squashed half to death!
She does what we now lovingly refer to as - "The Squalk!"
The big sister doesn't seem to mind the squalking and will happily hang on tighter than ever.
In which case, the squalking that ensues makes Mama think that she might actually loose her mind!

I just love watching my daughters playing together.
And the Mommy/Baby role play, is probably what I love watching the best.
In fact, it about makes my heart explode, with the incredible love I have for these two girls.
They most definitely share a beautiful bond together... sisters and friends.
Seriously, is there anything sweeter?
Oh Fall! How I love thee!
There is something splendid about Fall. I'd happily say it's the most wonderful time of the year - my favourite in fact. I love Fall clothes, layers of sweaters and jackets and boots and scarfs. I love hot drinks, tea, hot apple cider and my favourite, lattes! I'm not so fond of pumpkin spice lattes though... I know, I'm odd like that. But I do love the look of pumpkins and chrysanthemums and all the colours of Fall! I'd happily live somewhere where it is Fall all year round.
Have I mentioned I love Fall?!
It's been a brand new Fall around here. A Fall with two kiddies! And because of that, we've been doing some new things - like taking a weekly trip to the library. You know we never did that before. I know. Hangs head in shame. That's probably why we have sooo many (bought) books in our house! Lilah's school has a book catalogue that comes out monthly and we usually buy 2 or 3 books each month. So yes, it's getting a little cramped around here!
Lilah also started her second year of skating lessons and boy does she love skating. Oh yes she does. She is very proud of her accomplishments and was thrilled that Phebe got to come along and watch her on her first lesson of the season. She loves to show off her skills to her little sister Phebe.
And there was the usual running through leaves, throwing leaves, collecting (the biggest!) leaves, playing with sticks, a visit to the pumpkin patch and of course, drinking hot chocolate... listen to this, she's had hot chocolate in many little coffee shops along the way, BUT... she tells me that Mama makes the best hot chocolate in the whole wide world! Ohhh, that girl, she knows exactly what to say, to give me the warm and fuzzies! I haven't told her my secret recipe, how I make it purely with half and half cream! Oh yeah, any wonder it's delicious!
Fall. You're slipping away quickly this year. We're going to miss you. Seriously.
We visited Miller's Pumpkin Farm this day last week. (I know, I've been laging lately - I used to be pretty good at blogging, on time!)
Anyway, it was 25 degrees. I mean really, those kinda temperatures don't happen too often around here, in October. Colin had the day off work and shhhh, don't tell anyone, we kept Lilah home from school! Believe me, she was still "learning" at the pumpkin farm... and having fun too. A lot of fun!
On the walk over to the pumpkin field, Baba had his two girls in a wagon running them down a little hill. They were shrieking with laughter. This Baba sure knows how to entertain his little girls.
I love my husband and our little family. Since bringing our little Phebe pumpkin home from China, you know I've always felt incredibly blessed, but now I can't even find the words to express how I'm feeling. It is a overwhelming joy, love, thankfulness, all mixed up into a very blessed Mama. And I know my husband feels the same, recently he said to me: "Can it really be this good?" I think he was pinching himself at the same time!
: choosing a pumpkin : playing in the hay : taking care of little sister : throwing leaves : eating candy apples : wagon rides
All that fun at the farm. And we ended the day with a picnic and two sleeping girls!
Yes, I have been blessed, beyond words. Thank you Lord.
Indeed, halloween has arrived!
Would you believe that my girl had a massive costume change of mind at the last minute... she had planned on being supergirl, but changed her mind just before heading off to Kindercare this morning. She found a bunny mask and a bunny tail in the dress-up closet and her decision was made, to be a bunny rabbit. I think 'self-conscious' has hit around these parts... which doesn't surprise me in many ways. Lilah likes to 'fit in' and being at the center of attention is not totally her thing!
She could not contain the excitment she had built up... and any little bit of self-conscious (if it even was that?!) that she might have had, was quickly thrown out the window as she did a little trick or treating in our neigbourhood. We talked about going to 5 homes in the neighbourhood, so she was thrilled when we did around 10, maybe 12. We went out nice and early so Lilah and Phebe could be home early enough to give out the candy we had bought for the kids coming to our door. And honestly, I think they enjoyed that even better than getting candy! Every time the doorbell rang there were shrieks and both girls would dive for the door!
I also got to volunteer in her class, at school, today! Which I loved and she also loved! About half the class are new (compared to her JK class last year) and it was so nice for me to meet them all and see the dynamics in her class. She is learning French this year and certainly seems to be enjoying it. There have been a lot of changes in her little life in the last two months and she is coping very well.
Happy Halloween my cute little Bunny!
I caught a few pictures of her last Sunday, playing in the dress-up closet!

Trick or Treat
***********************************************************************************
Waiting (not so patiently!) for the trick or treaters to arrive.

And a song she learned at Kindercare.
"Hey-Ho Halloween's Here"
One little, two little, three little witches
Fly over haystacks, fly over ditches,
Slide down the moon without any hitches,
Hey-ho, Halloween's here!
Horned owls hooting, time to go riding
Deep in the shadows where black cats hiding,
Gay little goblins sliding, gliding
Hey-ho, Halloween's here!
Lilah will always find herself a stick. It doesn't matter what we do or where we go, a stick will be found and played with!
She is such a great big sister too, because now she is teaching her little sister about how to find a good stick too! The evidence is right here and here!
I saw this tree last week, when Phebe and I were driving home from a grocery shopping expedition. So one morning, after I had the girls all dressed for the day, Lilah decided she wanted to take the morning off from her Kindercare. I was fine with that, I actually like to have her home in the morning, at least one day a week. So we walked up to the library together and when we got there (it was 9am!), we found out that the library didn't actually open until 10am! Oops. And that's when I remembered 'the tree'!
So I suggested we go to 'the tree' to take a few pictures and return to the library afterwards. Perfect - everyone was in agreement! So I got these lovely early morning light shots, that I don't normally get! Because I'm generally not a morning person! How times change!

And finally, helping her little sister with her smile. How precious is that!

I finally captured my two girls sitting brushing their teeth together,
while getting ready for Church, yesterday morning. They do this regularly!
Every single little thing they do together, makes my heart swell - how I love them both.
♥ ♥
Lilah started her second year of skating lessons today.
She LOVES to skate! When I signed her up, back in August, she was so so super excited, she was jumping up and down with excitement! A lot has happened between then and now, but when I mentioned it this week, she did the exact same thing, jumped up and down clapping her hands with excitment!
She is back into the kindergliders class, same as last year. However, she is definitely a skill level up this year. I was thinking back to last year, her first time on ice and how she fell a fair amount those first couple of weeks, always with a smile on her face! But towards the end she had gotten quite competent in the skating department and rarely fell! Well, it's obvious that skating is like riding a bike... she just picked up where she left off last year.
She was very proud of herself and was definitely ready to show her little sis, Phebe, how well she could skate.
I love that girl of mine... I'm so proud of all her accomplishments.
Lilah's one special request for Thanksgiving, was pumpkin pie for desert!
Her wish was granted!
Here's a few pieces of art that have come home from school and kindercare in the last week.
Wishing you a wonderful thanksgiving.
This past weekend, after eating Thai food and finishing it off with a fortune cookie... Lilah's fortune read:
'something sparkly is in your future'
I asked: "Oh, what could that mean?" (thinking she would suggest something along the lines of crafts and her sparkly glitter glue)
...wait for it...
She replied: "OH! I know what that could be! A DIAMOND!"
I so wasn't expecting that answer! *grin*
This photo was taken when we were in Beijing, China - I bought the hat in one of the markets there.
Lilah isn't a princess girl, at all. I even chose her favourite colour, blue... hoping maybe I could change her!
She was kind enough to humour me for a few pictures!
