junior kindergarten registration

the school bus

This day last week Lilah and I walked hand in hand up to the local school and I signed her up for JK (Junior Kindergarten) - which starts in September.

I teared up and teared up and teared up some more. I couldn't talk about it without more severe chin wobbling and tearing up. Yes, I was that bad. I used to shake my head and think to myself, that'll never happen to me.

Right now she doesn't know exactly what will happen during "school" and she's the type of girl that needs to know EXACTLY what's happening. So because of this, I think she's feeling a little unsure. She's already told me that we can stay at home together, forever! I have no doubts that she is going to LOVE school. She loves loves loves socializing. So did I as a child - the evidence is written all over my report cards!

Anyway, it's going to be great. Eventually. Have I mentioned how much I dislike change?

I'm just so thankful we live two blocks away from school and she doesn't have to take the school bus. Because that. Would scare me silly. Although I know my daughter would disagree with me here. Because the school bus, is quite possibly the only part of "school" that excites her at the moment!

  1. I know what you are going through... it is hard to see them head off to school, but you will see her thrive!

    Maybe you should home school?!

  2. You will have the morning or the afternoons together. But, I certainly understand where you are coming from. I know you make the BEST of everyday you have with your girl. It is so evident in your pictures and writing.

  3. I relate very well to where you are at!

These photos are precious! I love how the school bus pics tie in with the school topic. And once again, great collage!

  4. Oh Jill! Change is so tough! I totally hear what you are saying! I wish I had the patience to homeschool my kids, because I totally would! They grow up way too fast!

  5. I just know she will do wonderfully in school, but I know how you must be feeling right now. I'm quite sure I will be a complete mess when mine starts pre-k. Hugs

  6. It's so hard, such a big change. They still seem so little!
I was the same way when Avery got on the bus for the first time. Now we just signed Brennyn up for JK. I agree with everyone else, they grow up so quickly.

  7. They grow up TOOOOOO fast. Lily is turning 6 tomorrow and I am tearing up all day that my little girl is growing up. I teared up for preschool and kindergarten.
I surely thought I would be prepared when Ty started school but not the case... seems I was a mess of tears then also.

My mom just told me recently that being a mom is full of tearing up. OH my... was she ever right.

  8. JK already?! Did Lilah's school get picked to be on the list for full-time? Cause that would be a BIGGER change, especially if she still takes naps. But I'm sure Lilah will love JK and will flourish no doubt!

As for you, think of all the extra time you'll get! :)

  9. Oh, I remember this. It was especially hard with my little one. Don't know why really but she was so tiny and we weren't quite sure what she thought about it all. I called from work every morning to make sure she was fine. They probably thought I was hysterical but I didn't care. I just had to know that she was happy. She is 5 now and loves going to Kindergarden every day and I've stopped calling every morning.

  10. I totally get it. Kate is supposed to go to kindergarten next year but she has a late birthday and I am thinking about giving her an extra year. She love Pre-kindergarten but I am not sure she is ready for the real kindergarten!!!

Are you at home now or at work. I thought you went back to work. I mist be mistaken.

  11. @ Paige, No way, no home schooling! :)

@ Anonymous, No her jk isn't one of the ones chosen to be full time, just 2.5 hours a day.

@ Kim at 3 Peanuts, No I haven't started back to work yet. I do plan to when she goes starts school in September. I am hoping to just go back part time though - maybe 3 days a week. :)

And yes, I agree...growing up wayyy to quickly.
